Wedding Specialists - Scam Alert

Hi Guys,
I feel it is my unfortunate duty to inform any and all wedding specialists that there is a scam currently going around involving wedding planning.

I was contacted by email recently from a man wishing to plan his wedding through Country Weddings. He was from overseas and wished to plan his wedding in our area.

I original thought it was a bit strange and asked him for more information, wanting to find out if it was Wagga that he was interested in as i told him i felt a bit dubious about his request. After several emails he had almost convinced me of his request. I had already searched the internet for his name and didnt find any scam information. It wasnt until i double checked the time difference in his emails from the country he said he was emailing from that i got a bit more worried as it was always at a strange time (from his country) that he was emailing me- and eventually when he gave me his phone number i searched the net for the number and came up with another wedding website informing people of the scam.....so PLEASE be careful.

Country Weddings Showbags

Marc and Rachel held their ceremony and reception at the All Saints Estate Winery near Rutherglen and this was another wedding where the photography and videography services were provided by Harris Studios. You can see some of the pics taken by Jodie on the Harris Studios Blog Here.

Though a little windy it was a fantastic venue enjoyed not only by all their guests but by us girls from Harris Studios as well....there was just so much eye candy where ever we went!

Here is Marc and Rachel's highlights... be sure to keep an eye out towards the end of the video where I filmed from the tower of the castle! Heights aren't an issue for me but in all honesty I was a tad nervous about hanging my precious camera over the edge of that thing!

Justin and Amber were married at Justin's family holiday house on the banks of the Mulwala river in Yarrawonga. Couples In Focus - Crystal & Terry

Terry and Crystal dated on & off during high school but it wasnt until they left school that they thought to give it another try. After 5 years Terry decided to pop the question on New Years Eve 2004. Terry got down on bended knee on the dance floor at The Home Tavern in front of all their friends (and the rest on The Home).

After 3 long years they tied the knot on the 6th October 2007.

The wedding day was amazing, the whole day was well planned and everything was beautiful.
Crystal had 2 of her sisters Jasmine & Shannon and her friend Zoe as bridesmaids. The ceremony wasnt until 5pm so they got to spend the whole day together just hanging out and getting ready at the hotel. Crystal and her bridesmaids helped each other out with their make-up and a friend Nardia did an amazing job with their hair.

Crystal wanted the whole day to be fun & relaxing so they kept the hair & make-up simple & chose short party style bridesmaid dresses.

The ceremony was at Collins Park, they had hired Romance Guitars (a classical guitar duet) to play a selection of classical music through out the afternoon.
Crystal was walked down the eisle by her 2 beautiful boys Jack & Ethan on either side of her.
After the ceremony the bridal party stayed at the park for a few photos while all the guest went to the Boat Club for the reception.

The wedding cake was a white 2 tier marbled mud cake with pink oriental lillies on top.

After the wedding Crystal & Terry honeymooned near Beechworth at woolshed cabins near the water falls for 4 days.

Crystals advice would be:
"Do most things yourself, you will save heaps. I did my own flowers for $40, i just ordered 20 individual pink tulips then tied them myself with white ribbon it took me 5 mins."

"Ebay, Ebay, Ebay, the best place to shop for your wedding is on ebay.

Couples In Focus - Skye & Eliott

Skye & Eliott's Wedding

Skye and Eliott met at the Cambridge hotel in Parkes while Eliott was working as a train driver at the Parkes depo. He proposed to Skye 6 months later and not long after that Skye gave birth to their first child.

Eliott presented Skye with an engagement ring on her 21st birthday they had then planned to get married a lot sooner but two more baby bumps made fitting into her dream dress impossible so they delayed it again and again and again and again.

Finally their day arrived and they wouldn't change a thing about it Skye Jade Hokin only Daughter of Christy Greene and Colin Hokin previously from Parkes married Eliott Robert Hackett Son of Robert and Yvonne Hackett of Junee.

They wedding ceremony was held at the Junee Anglican Church on September 8th 2007.

Skye was escorted down the isle by her father to the song Unforgettable by Nat King Cole. The bridal parties bouquets were hand made by the bride herself.

The reception was held at the Junee ExServices Club which was attended to by 130 guests who feasted on a traditional baked dinner, with the three tear mud cake for dessert.

The Most Memorable Thing:
They had waited 6 years to have there special day and having there four children their to celebrate it with them made it more special.

Honeymoon:
Skye & Eliott honeymooned on Long Island and Hamilton island for 6 nights before returning with plans to build a home in Junee.

Skye's Advice:
I think our day was very special cause we were organised and prepared. We planned this 1.5 years in advance so it gave us heaps of time to shop around for prices and save up.
The more you can pay for out of your own pocket the better - nothing like starting a relationship with a huge debt.
We were so organised I was ready 1 hour before the wedding, even the photographer was finished with us so it gave us time to chill which was great.
My best tip is get involved - do things yourself. We made all our own bomboniere, even decorated the napkin, made flowers place cards, invites, thankyou notes and we decorated our venue ourself the day before.

Butterfly Effect

Earlier this year my husband and I attended the wedding of two friends Gavin & Chrissy and I was dumb founded by the effort that Chrissy had gone to for the place cards.

They were the most beautiful place cards I had ever seen - and all only made out of cardboard.

Below is a picture of one of them - it is a cardboard butterfly that sits on your wine glass.
My picture doesnt do it any justice - but it truely was the best place card idea.

Apparently, what you do is fold the piece of cardboard down the middle and draw 1 side of the butterfly - then do a hell of a lot of cutting. Then make a little knick in the centre so that it can rest on the glass.

The Proposal :
We were on our way to the coast and we stopped for breakfast at the lookout on the way. He asked me to listen to a song he wrote on his mp3 player (he is a musician and a singer so this was nothng out of the ordinary). I said 'sure' and as I was listening to the words I realised it was a song about me. It wasnt the first time he had written a song about me but it was the first time he had written a nice romantic song about me so I was pretty chuffed. At the end of the song the words were something like "will you marry me" and he was on his knee fumbling for the ring! Through many tears I said yes, and I think I asked him if he was sure about five times! I walked down the aisle to the song 9 months later!

What were your favourite aspects of the wedding day?
The whole day went exactly like we had hoped. There were some dramas with the krispy kremes and a few other things I didnt know about until afterward but overall it was the absolute best! I loved the girls bouquets, they were realy different and looked great!
I spent some time on my own at the hairdressers which was really nice, relaxing and certainly just what I needed. By the time I got back to the house I was ready for the day to proceed.
We also had our labradoodle Maggie at the ceremony which was great. We had a great time during photos just taking the opportunity to chill for a bit with the bridal party.
Our bridal waltz and the band were also a highlight!
What advice do you have for couples planning their wedding?
If he says he doesnt like the reception venue you chose because they dont serve the right beer, listen to him, its his day too and you may find the second option is better in the end anyway! My mums advice - every half an hour just take a step back to really enjoy it. Oh yeah, and everyone should do a pre marital counselling course regardless of who is marrying you because a wedding is not about the dress and the party, although its easy to get carried away with those things and forget about the real reason you are there.

What parts of your wedding did you do yourself ?
We had heaps of help from people we knew. We had DVD invitations which we designed ourselves then had a friend make them into a DVD. My uncle and my bridesmaid looked after the photos and my mum and I spent endless days and dollars at the cheapo shops buying everything from candle holders to bamboo sticks! I handpainted the parasols and the bridesmaids did their own hair which saved quite a bit of money. There were heaps of eole that helped out at different points along the way which always takes a bit of pressure off!

Save money on your gown

Most couples want to have a gorgeous wedding but not have to go into debt - so why not save some coins and purchase a pre-loved gown???

I currently have a few listed on the website - but second hand gowns dont seem to be too popular in our area.
Some of these gowns are to die for...and cheap as chips....take the plunge and at least go have a look at them.

One particular gown has been reduced from $1900 to $400!!!

Nobody will ever know unless you tell them and the money you save can go towards a longer honeymoon!!
